Heat and drought and bushfires in Australia at present
It sure is a land of contrasts as this extract from a poem called My Country by Dorothea McKellar points out

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!

So you can see Santa can have all sorts of things to contend with when he visits from droughts (so we have to put out extra food and water for his kangas) to flooding rains (he'll need his rain coat or what we call a Driza Bone to keep him dry!!)

But whatever the conditions you can be sure that as the book says it will be flamin' hot !!
